I got this in an e-mail the other day and I’m sure some people’s heads are sure to roll but I happen to agree with it, so I’m posting it!

Andy Rooney said on ’60 Minutes’ a few weeks back:

I don’t think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens…Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right ‘NOT’ to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American/Canadian/British citizen, you should have to speak English!  (has he been to Quebec? lol)

My father and grandfather didn’t die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot or arrest you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can’t understand the word ‘freeze’ or ‘stop’ in English, see the above lines.

I don’t think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special National Assistance, loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, corner store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don’t hate the rich I don’t pity the poor

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn’t stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that’s better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn’t take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say ‘NO!’

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don’t pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don’t want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of ‘Political Correctness.’ I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be ‘African-Americans/Canadian/British’? Besides, Africa is a continent.. I don’t go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe . I am proud to be from America and nowhere else

And if you don’t like my point of view, tough…

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE CANADIAN FLAG, to the BRITISH FLAG & TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

I was asked to send this on if I agree, or delete if I don’t. It is said that on average 86% of Canadians/ Americans & British believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having ‘In God We Trust’ on American money and having ‘God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the 15%+ to BE QUIET!!!

Madness!

OMFG I’ve been so busy its insane!  I’ve become horribly addicted to Mafia wars, so much so that I think I need Mafia wars rehab lol.  In between MW rounds though I’ve slowly been building pages and getting some much needed work done!  Anyway time to backtrack a little bit…

Saturday I did some work during the day, didn’t get to sleep in because Ms. Kitler had a dire case of the munchies and demanded I feed her in the wee hours of the morning!  I love her, she’s great but come on its Saturday!  Then I hit the town with Ms. Donna Saturday evening.  She had to work, I didn’t so we met up at Berri metro which was SO sketchy!  I really hate Berri square when there isn’t an event because that’s where most of the drug dealers hang out and sure enough we got offered half price on PCP…  Which didn’t surprise me but I hate hanging out at a metro by myself whilst waiting for someone to show up.
Then we went to Cafe European for dinner which was nice, we sat out on the terrace but it was somewhat windy & chilly so our food got cold a little too fast but it was pretty yummy. We were there for about two hours, munching and talking. Jeremy was in town so I gave him regular text updates because we were supposed to meet up later for drinks.

Then we headed off to Kilo Cafe for coffee and dessert. I skipped the coffee because I knew I wouldn’t get any sleep but I had a Kilo sunrise instead which is the same as a tequila sunrise but with peach schnapps instead and it was good. Quite girly but tasty just the same. We shared a piece of this decadent raspberry thing (can’t recall the name) but it was SO good! Light and airy with whipped cream and raspberry goodness throughout and we were stuffed!

So then we headed off to the drugstore for some drinks, this bar is massive! It has like 4 floors (as most places in the village do) with a rooftop terrace but that was closed so we settled in on the third floor which is semi closed in because its surrounded by four walls but no roof so no wind which was nice! There was someone getting married and they were being rather loud and obnoxious so that was kind of annoying but we had fun just the same. We didn’t stay out too late since we were taking the metro and didn’t want to miss the last one. Never did meet up with Jeremy, I got a text that said” sorry hot men” and that pretty much explained it all 😉

So Sunday was my day with Jeremy, we went out for brunch which seems to be our tradition of sorts now when he comes here. Anyway it was pretty warm and sunny out and that means terrace time! Also meant that I got a sunburn and so did poor Jeremy! Must invest in some more sunscreen. I of course know better but you know how it is… Anyway we were talking about my dental issues and I was debating did I want breakfast or something else. So we settled on breakfast, we ordered the same thing and just as I was about to dig in Jeremy says to me” Um Honey, there’s a shell in your eggs” sure enough there was and it was HUGE how could you not see that?

Not only that, part of my eggs were slimy and not fully cooked which really grossed me out! Jeremy offered to share which is very sweet, but I still had my toast so I just nibbled on that instead. Then they came back better cooked and shell-less but you’d think they’d change the plate… UGH! Jeremy found a bunch of shells in his too and that of course is a total turn off. That aside our waiter was cute, very sweet and prompt! So I left him a nice tip just the same. In any case it was really nice to sit and catch up with Jeremy. Talked about a few things that would be really good for the site, and just life in general. I made him a photo album of the few pictures I have of us and the various trips he’s taken up here and he really liked that which was good! He brought me some goodies that you can’t buy in Canada so that was extra nice!

My week thus far has sucked, can’t sleep to save my life! Monday I had really odd dreams of the psychologically disturbing sort and it was cold in my room so I kept waking up every freaking hour. Tuesday I had strange dreams again and woke up at 5am cos i had to pee and that was just annoying! I hate when my sleep gets interrupted like that! Throws my whole damn day off! Maybe tonight will be better, I hope so!

In happier news… I have a dental appointment at McGill July 27th! Sucks about the wait but at least I got my foot in the door!

Catching up!

First thing first…

VOTE FOR CARLY!

My lovely friend gay boyfriend Jeremy is in town and that makes me SO happy!  I adore him and I haven’t seen him since last summer and I Miss him terribly!  So tonight Donna, Jeremy, myself and whomever else cares to join us will be heading off to the gay village to hit up the drugstore (a bar, not a pharmacy lol) for a few drinks and to catch up and Jeremy and I are going to go out for brunch on Sunday which is always nice!  We’re on a mission to find a girlfriend for Donna 😉

So I am quite excited about that!  Donna and I went out Tuesday night and had a blast!  We went out for dinner to Schwartz’s which I have never been to in spite of that fact that its pretty famous here and I’ve lived in this city for 5 years now.  Now I am not exactly a smoked meant connoisseur in the least but I am a Chef and I know good food and I thought it was high time I seen what all the hype was about…  Yeah i’m not exactly sure what to say about that experience other then it was slightly over-rated to say the least.  Its your typical diner, crazy busy, packed to the gills with people and you have to share tables with strangers, thats just the way it is.  Which didn’t bother me because the 2 younger guys we were sharing a table with made me laugh.  Don’t get me wrong the food was good but it wasn’t this mind blowing experience I had thought it would be…  I’ll go back for sure but I think I’ll order mine lean next time.  Mine wasn’t too bad in terms of being too fatty but Donna’s dear God I think her sandwich had more fat then meat!  Fries were decent and they had dark cherry soda which I hadn’t had in a really long time so that was a nice treat.

En route to the deli, we spotted this AMAZING crepe place that has their wares displayed in the window sealed in acrylic so you could see what went into each crepe but sadly it closed at 8pm and we missed out by all of 3 minutes, so sadly we didn’t end up going. I however was on the quest for dessert since the idea was put into my head! It was still early and a beautiful night so we decided to head back into the downtown core to find some ice cream and a terrace to park it and just hang out. So we went into Sucre bleu which is a quaint little candy shop FILLED with retro candy that I enjoyed as a child so that was great fun. We also found this darling little fondue/crepe place that was full so we made a note to go back and visit and soon! We ended up at second cup (Exciting eh :p) and sat out on the terrace having vanilla hot chocolate (regular hot chocolate with vanilla added) which was yummy topped with a smidge of whipped cream and chocolate shavings and I had some rather generic and dry tiramesu which is usually my favorite dessert but this was somewhat disappointing! I flung some of my hot chocolate on it and then it wasn’t so bad.

Then we headed home because it was getting late and I really had to pee! Neither one of us would use the bathroom there, too many creepy people in that part of downtown!

Earlier this week, I finally got around to trying my 3 musketeer’s dark chocolate mint chocolate bar which Donna was kind enough not to eat on me lol.

I only like dark chocolate when its paired with certain things and mint is def. one of them!  It was interesting to say the least.  My favorite dark chocolate/mint combo is york peppermint patties, I LOVE THEM!  Anyway I was curious about this chocolate bar which is more expensive then your average run of the mill chocolate bar ($1.39 in case your wondering).  The nougat is the same as their regular bars except its white and minty.  Not overly minty though, I thought it could have used a little more.  Covered in dark chocolate which wasn’t too bitter which was nice.  Overall it was good, not something I would buy all the time mind you but would munch on again should the craving arise.

I also had John over for the weekend and we I made steak (John isn’t allowed in my kitchen) and I don’t know if it was the cut or what but I tell you, it looked like brains when it was finished cooking!

OK i’m a slacker!

What a crazy week I’ve had!  First off it started with my landlord being a collosal bitch!  She obviously got my fix this that and the other thing letter or I’m going to the regie so she tried to set up an appointment to get some FRENCH guy to look at my water tank (nothing else mind you) and I said that I would CALL him on Tuesday, not schedule an appointment, not that I would be home or ANYTHING of the sort.  She left me a nasty voicemail and started screaming and carrying on about how I’m not home, blah blah blah…  Then she bitched about the message on my voicemail on my cell, which IS different from the one on my landline.  It says on my cell that if your calling me between such and such a time I WON’T answer because I am at work.  I did this because I got tired of people calling me while I was at work and I don’t have a daytime plan on my cell for that very reason. So I call him back and of course I get no answer, how utterly convient!

However in happier news I booked my vacation from work.  I also booked my tattoo appointment for July 22nd at 2pm with Tim!  YAY!  I wanted to go to ONT a little later in the month but he’s not taking appointments after the 23rd, quite possibly the 22nd because he’s going on vacation himself.  Don’t ask me how I’m going to afford all of this because I really have no clue…  Praying for the tax man to be kind to me this year!  I think its fate, because my mom’s birthday is on the 17th and I won’t be missing it!  Which is nice because it IS her 50th!  My awesome mommy is celebrating a big one and I along with herself I am certain would be horribly dissapointed if I missed it.

Speaking of birthdays… I got a lovely gift in the mail today from Ania!  Even though its not until June 12th but hey who doesn’t LOVE presents!  I have pictures of course, just need to upload them from my camera.  I got a lovely (and quite handy I might add) box to stash my body jewelry in which is BRILLIANT!  I really needed something like that because while my collection such as it is, isn’t huge but its terribly organized!  I also got some emu oil which I have never used and I am certainly looking forward to trying!  Along with some cool stickers, a super cute card and chocolate!  I’m not hardcore fanatical about chocolate but I have been craving it ALL day (PMS) something awful and as soon as I opened my mailbox that was all I could smell 🙂  So she of course send me this amazing chocolate with this cherry/creme filling and its YUMMO!  Along with some of my favorite mini chocolates that are simply amazing!

I have loads of catching up to do and tons of pictures to post which I will do soon!
