Douchebaggery! Among other things…

OK where can I start?  Really…  Thursday, a totally non douchey day!  I got to chill with the lovely Jen, Clint, Ron & Chantal before racing off to work for a few hours and then had a lovely gab with a very lovely person and her hubby.  So all in all it was a nice enjoyable day with good people & good conversation (thank you I needed that! <3).  Then Friday hit and everything just went to shit after that…  I get into work at 5pm as per the usual, nothing was too crazy but I had a feeling it was going to be \”one of those days\” all the while muttering I love my job…  Mostly to myself.  However sometimes most of the time I do in fact love where I work!  We have such a great team of people, lots of inside jokes, stupid little pranks and a pretty good atmosphere to top it off which is nice!  However culinary life, regardless of the role you partake in, isn\’t for everyone either.

My co-worker seemed at odds but he\’s still new-ish so that was the norm.  It does however get a little frustrating when you have to tell someone the same thing a 100 times.  If there\’s something wrong with you IE: you have a learning disability or something then for the love of God SAY SOMETHING!  Anyway, its about 6:15pm I\’m doing some dishes and general tidying up because Friday nights are usually pretty crazy and I wanted to be ready for the rush.  I happened to glimpse my co-worker sneaking out the door, thinking he was going out for a smoke.  Which irritated me to no end because we were only a little over an hour into service but whatever, gotta get your breaks in when you can right?  Then about 20 minutes roll by and I asked my manager if he could track him down because it was starting to pick up a little bit.  He left…  Didn\’t say a word to anyone, just snuck out the back door and out the alley in the back and went home.  Are you fucking kidding me?!?

Thankfully two people rose to the occasion and came into bail my ass out along with my manager (thanks guys!  I really appreciated that!) and all in all Friday night in spite of loosing a staff member was actually pretty smooth overall.  Didn\’t leave until 5am but it got done without any major mishaps.  So as much as that pissed me off, because that\’s such a white trash, douchy thing to do; in the end it was OK.  So I went home, crawled into my uber amazing bed and slept soundly.  So then Saturday rolls around, poor D had to work to replace my MIA co-worker which had to suck but we got it done.  We were having a good time, Saturday in fact was full of fun, laughter and some really bad commentary.  I had high hopes in spite of working with yet another new guy who had only worked a few shifts.  We were having a great time…  That is until about 9-ish when the whining started.  I have ZERO tolerance for anyone who whines, especially a 19 year old law student…   Asking me for a break when you\’ve only been there for 2 hours, TWO HOURS?!? Are you kidding me?  So whatever I figured he might as well take on now because if it got busy then the chances of him getting one at all were pretty nil.  Still irritating though just the same.

Then the nagging started…  Can I go home? No.  Why not? Because I said so.  and on and on it went.  This kid was really starting to get on my nerves!  Then it got busy, it got to the point where I was SO frustrated I wanted to cry.  It takes a lot to get me to that point…  I was so tired, I just quite simply couldn\’t take it anymore!  I didn\’t know if I was coming or going, my co-worker well there\’s only certain things he knows how to do and I tell ya sneaking out that backdoor was MORE then a little appealing to me.  If you know what I mean.  So I texted my immediate boss to make him aware of the situation and well to air out some frustration while I was at it.  I also mentioned to the owner who was working that night that I needed stronger help on the busiest days.  I mean seriously, we broke a fucking sales record last night!  Strong staff IS required!  What did he do? Shrugged it off and bacially gave me a look that said:\”what do you want me to do about it?\” FUCK THAT!

So I\’m out…  I can\’t do this anymore.  Culinary life has been my life since I started working.  Its whoring up all my time, making me bitter, jaded and so. very. angry.  I am going back to school but I wanted to pare down my Visa bill a little bit first but you know what?  I don\’t think that I can wait any longer…  So in the meantime I am \”exploring\” other avenues outside of my career field that can tide me over until I get my BA, hell even a diploma would suffice at this time.  Which sucks so hard because I love where I work!  The stress, the bullshit and the drama however is enough to make me want to throw myself in front of a bus!  When you walk out of work needing some Valium its time to go…  I\’m going to miss that place though when I go 🙁

On a random note, I really miss Jason!  So much!  I also miss being in school…  Who knew?

Out with the old and in with the new…

New Schedule hooray!  I don\’t particularity care for it per Se since its 6 freaking days a week but 3 of those days are half days and the best part: THEY\’RE DURING THE DAY!  So maybe, I can get my ass back on track, have a life and you know all those good things!  So I think I will be speaking with Leanne about this whole personal Chef business because now I can totally pull it off and I need the cash.  The sooner I get my visa bill paid off the sooner I can get my derriere back in school and get the hell out of this industry and that\’s what I\’m after the most!   I have to say that this new schedule of mine feels somewhat liberating!  No more working til 4am (except for one day a week no biggie) and maybe no more feeling so lethargic all the time either!  In any case I am going to see my hot Dr. about getting my thyroid tested because I\’m always tired and cold.  I think its under-active (very much like myself)  :p So that\’s on my to look into list and I\’ll be doing that sometime this week seeing as how I\’ve been like this for years and nothing much as helped aside from lots and lots of caffeine!

My newest tattoo addition is healing beautifully and I am quite happy about that!  When it started to scab over it was a tad gross because the kept falling into my cleavage and it looked like I had some strange disease or as someone pointed out, looked like I had ants in my bra…  My lovely friend Jeremy came in from Maine with his super sweet new Beau Tim and we had a fabulous brunch at my house.  It was so great to see them both!

So tomorrow I have to run to the post office and mail my rent via registered mail, do my laundry, pop into Gryphon and see my ladies!  Call the clinic about getting those tests done and talk to Leanne who is hopefully in the office when I pop in.  I also have to finish cleaning my apartment!  I made some minor changes to the decor around here and got rid of some stuff that I don\’t need any longer.  The garbage men are going to likely hate me but its nice to De-clutter one\’s home 🙂  Some stuff can be donated and it will be, or I\’ll just put an ad up on CL in the free section to get rid of it that much faster.  I also have to network my old PC and my new one so that I don\’t have to spent an eternity burning CD\’s and what have you.  That\’s going to be a slightly cumbersome task but at least I\’ll have all my programs on here.  Especially Microsoft office because I don\’t have the CD anymore and well I don\’t see a point in buying it again and of course my new computer (which I love!) only has the 60 day trial.  Not to mention all the other programs that I have trapped in my old HDD.  I could just switch them out but this one is bigger (460g) vs my old one (80g) and the OS isn\’t the same either.

Then maybe I\’ll get back on track with my website!  For now though I\’m going to focus on getting caught up on some much needed things around here and in my day to day life first.  I\’m finding it really difficult to sum up the motivation to work on that I have to admit.  It just seems so damn tedious…  I\’ve contemplated throwing in the towel on numerous occasions but, as everyone has said:\”You\’ve come this far\” but I still have such a LONG way to go…  But hey if its meant to be, it\’ll happen right?

On a final note: Some seasonal (Christmas) humor leftover from the holidays.   Sketchy Santa The ultimate prank

A quickie!

As usual, I have a ton of things to say, but not nearly enough time to say it!  I did however come up with a pretty fabulous idea I think…

So its officially 2010 and I had a fabulous day today!    Spent some time with my lovely friend Jeremy & his lovely boyfriend Tim.  Had a fabulous brunch at my house which everyone enjoyed.  Tomorrow is off to home depot to get something I need for my kitchen, wasn\’t going to buy it but its on sale and I need it for my apartment so might as well since its $40.00 off!

Hope everyone had/has a fabulous new year!

The 2009 review

Well the year is almost over…  There\’s lots I could say to sum it up but to coin a phrase from Catlin \”2009 for me was the absolute highest highs and the lowest lows. I experienced pure, unadulterated joy and rock bottom, brutal sadness. I felt about as angry as I ever have.\” Hope she doesn\’t mind, but in all honestly I really couldn\’t have said it better myself!  Brilliantly put Catlin, that\’s all I have to say 🙂  Reading other people\’s blogs has its advantages since it was Catlin that pointed out that Gillian answers a serious of questions every year after skimming through them I thought well you know, why not?  So thank you Gillian for making this blog entry a little easier!

1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?

Lots of things!  Went to places I\’ve never been before and more importantly became a little more true to myself.  Oh and I went boxing day shopping with my mom & sister and didn\’t buy a  single hoodie!  (I have a hoodie addiction)  Seriously…  You reading this Micheal lol.  I actually bought girly attire…  I gotta say though I do love that angora sweater 😉

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.

Life is short, too short!

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day\’s a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?

Against the grain should be a way of life
What\’s worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts \’cause there\’s no second try
So live like you\’re never living twice
Don\’t take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day-Nickleback

So in closing, this year sucked in SO many ways…  Tons and tons of soul sucking drama, far too many tears and heartbreak and things that just speak of pure evil.  Although there were a few rare moments of happiness that made them all that much more precious.  In the end its the little things that matter and that was a lesson that I sadly learned the hard way.
So 2009 wasn\’t a total loss, just a very difficult year.  In the end, I have learned that inspiration can come from the strangest things but leads to something beautiful.  I\’m not going to rattle of names, but I can only hope that those who were there for me either directly or indirectly when I needed them the most, who gave me some very much needed closure in inadvertently assisting me with my memorial tattoo for Jason and those who just made this year suck a little less, your awesome and I am so totally grateful that you were there even if it was only for a brief period of time <3
Here\’s to hoping that 2010 is full of much better things for us all 😉
