Laughter…

truly is the best medicine I would think, at least lately!  Work was actually fun today!  Krystal and I had a blast and so did Donna and myself.  I haven\’t laughed that much or enjoyed my day at work quite like I did today in a long time.  It was nice for a change!  I\’m still dealing with Thursdays horrifying events but I\’m not forcing myself to \”feel better\” I\’m just going to go with it and enjoy the little things a little bit more then I used to.  It shouldn\’t have taken the death of someone I cared about to kick my ass into gear but like I normally do, I try to find something, anything no  matter how small that\’s positive!  In any case if the boss heard even a 1/4 of the conversations we have at work sometimes we would all be fired!

Carly\’s coming to Montreal for the first time since she left to move to West Virgina and I am SO excited about that!  I really can\’t wait to see her 🙂  I will be exceptionally dissapointed if I don\’t!  I know she\’s going to be insanely busy with family things and of course all the visiting she has to do but dammit I\’m important 🙂

Heddy (lovingly known as Kitler) pulled quite the epic stunt earlier when I got home and I wanted to kill her!  Don\’t get me wrong, I love my slightly psycho crossed-eyed cat.  However that loves tends to fall to the wayside when she attacks my face because she got one of her nails caught in my shirt and I knew she was (this close) to having one of her fits but couldn\’t get her off of me in time!  So needless to say, I\’m not impressed with her at the moment!

Soon though she\’ll have a friend.  Poor Jackie has an array of the feline sort that need foster and forever homes and she has one kitty at her house that I LOVE!  His name is chocolate and he\’s a Persian of some sort with the most beautiful blue eyes ever!  Sadly he\’s not a fan of other cats and well Heddy\’s off her rocker sometimes so that would be a bad match!  So since I\’m not picky about whom I take I might be getting tou-tou who\’s a regular old tabby cat and he\’s a cutie!

Nothing exciting really, the tea room was quiet today.  Although we had one woman come in (with her son) who wanted to buy scones to take home and Donna asked her if she wanted some butter to go with them and she said no.  Then he\’s like yeah well *I* want butter!  Mom being sensible says I don\’t want to butter them in the the car (fair enough) then he gets all pouty and says just do it!  I\’m thinking to myself Jesus Christ you spoiled brat if you were my kid you\’d be getting a smack for that!  This is one of hundreds of reasons why I *DON\’T* want kids!  Their parents spoil them horribly and then when they don\’t get their way, all hell breaks loose!  Funny how neither my niece or nephew are like that.  I\’m not just being biased because I\’m their aunt, they\’re just really good kids!  I don\’t think my sister realizes just how good her children really are.  I adore them <3

*edit* I finally added images/albums via the gallery page 🙂

Time well wasted today!

I\’ve wanted to go to the botanical gardens for a while now few years now.  Of course no one wants to go with me a majority of the time.  I asked Donna if she wanted to go and she said to me and I quote \” I don\’t want to spend the whole day watching you take pictures of flowers.\” So when Jackie said she\’d go with me, I was pretty excited!  I needed the distraction and today wasn\’t a disappointment.

We started out at this little tiny hole in the wall restaurant for brunch where Jackie patiently listened to me ramble on about Jason and offered up some thoughts on her own experiences as well.  I had jokingly said that if there was such a thing as life after death then I\’m looking forward to kicking his ass for hurting me so bad.  Her reply to that statement made a lot of sense and made me feel better: \”Steph, if there truly is life after death, then he\’ll already know how much you hurt and how much your suffering because of his loss.\”  She\’s got a point, I have to give her that!  It was also comforting to me in a way, because you know as religious as I am NOT by any stretch of the imagination I only wish/hope the he really can see just how much of an impact that his death has left on so many people.  I was able to get a hold of James who worked on the IAM2 project, I have yet to get back to him but I will on Monday.  He\’s really only one of the few people that knew how close we were.  The outpouring of awesome support I\’ve gotten from everyone has been amazing!  I\’ve had a lot of new people pop into my life and \”old\” people that I haven\’t heard from in forever come back into it.  I of course avoid dragging them into my emotional trauma and most of them have kept a respectful distance while I grieve.  I have to say once again that I am beyond grateful to have the close friends that I do.  I couldn\’t get through this without you and I love you for it!

Anyway moving along…  We ate after running some errands for her rescue and headed out to the gardens which is MASSIVE, Jesus Christ I think we both sat down for all of a minute the entire afternoon.   We had a field day checking out all the different gardens and even popped in briefly to the insectarium to see how much we weighed in ants & I picked up some candy coated bugs for the kids.  I\’m thinking Chelsea will think that its gross whereas Dustin will think its pretty neat.  What can I say, that\’s the fun part about being an aunt 🙂

All in all it was a good day, although an exceptionally long one!  Then we headed off to the west island for some dinner and I got to meet my possible new companion for Heddy.  He\’s a cute little tabby cat and hopefully they get along as he\’s in need of a forever home.  My memory card is full and the batteries are dead so once they\’re recharged then I\’ll post pictures from the tattoo convention and the botanical gardens as well.  I\’m far more interested in seeing how my garden pictures turned out as I got pretty up close and personal with some bee\’s while I was there.  Didn\’t get stung by any thankfully and I also nabbed a shot of a butterfly that was kind enough to hang out while I took a picture.  One thing I\’m not looking forward to is uploading literally hundreds of images.  My HDD is once again becoming over-run with images and needs to be sorted out again *le sigh*

Another day is finally over…

OMG WANT! <-my birthday is coming up soon-ish

So today was…  Interesting to say the least.  It was busy, for a brief period of time during lunch and I tell you some of the people we had today astounded me to no end!  This one woman who quite obviously liked to call attention to herself a great deal or is blind or damn near close to it was wearing the most outlandish outfit EVER!  Try and picture this:  A woman who appeared to be in her late 50\’s with a gigantic bouffant of hair wearing an orange sorbet colored headband and a ton of exceptionally tacky jewelry.  Topped of with a matching orange sorbet colored blazer, which she had draped a rather obnoxious neon orange/pink/yellow shawl teamed up with wide leg leather pants and these HUGE white framed sunglasses that reminded me small plates.  I couldn\’t help but laugh every time I walked by her, or seen her because she looked ridiculous!   I had my camera at work today and I was tempted to take a picture because if anything for the entertainment value!

Then this jackass got all pissy because we don\’t serve clotted cream.  Which is illegal in Quebec (thank God because the thought alone makes me want to yarf something awful!) because its not pasteurized EWWWWWWWWWWWW!  Being a Chef there is few things I will turn my nose up at without trying it, this would be one of them.  Anyway back to this jackass…  He got all snotty because I told him while we have our own version of Devon cream, we only make that for special orders and for afternoon tea and we don\’t currently have any on hand.  Generally scones get served with butter and our homemade jam which he didn\’t want.  Fine, he asked for dessert instead.  Since he had 3 other people with him and I was working alone at that time I had my hands full trying to prepare this order and serve people.  He walks back to the table and proclaims quite loudly that \”we\’re useless because we don\’t have cream.\”  I\’m seething, thinking you immigrant asshole it might be acceptable to treat woman like shit in YOUR country but this is Canada sweetheart and I ain\’t going to tolerate that shit for a second!

Thankfully Donna came back upstairs and I let her deal with it because I was pissed off at this ignorant and rude comment and was fighting the urge to stab him in the face…  So Donna goes over with their order and offered them lemon cream which Krystal had just brought up from the dessert leftovers.  So he got all arrogant with her too!  Donna told him the same thing we usually only serve it for afternoon tea, to which he replied\” well its the afternoon and I\’m having tea. \”  Not the same thing!  So Donna (God bless her patience!) gave him the low down on what afternoon tea (dainty tea) was  and that it required a reservation and all that.  He\’s like well we drove in from the west island blah blah blah, so?  We have people who come to the tea room from the US and Europe which is a whole lot further then the West Island jackass, next time ORDER AHEAD!  Oddly enough, when they went down to the bakery they were super nice to the boss lady.  OK yeah Donna and I don\’t look as old as we actually are, especially Donna but that doesn\’t give you the right to dis-respect us in the least!

I mean seriosuly…  Are you kidding me!

In other news:  I FINALLY got kitler\’s litter of choice!  They only had 4 bags in stock so I bought 2.  She\’ll be good for the next couple of months 🙂

Could I FAIL any harder at life?

OMG seriously, UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!  My picky pain in the ass environmentally friendly kitty likes one kind of litter and one kind only which under normal circumstances is fine.  Except when every damn supermarket in town DOESN\’T HAVE IT IN STOCK!  I usually have ample amounts on hand, but somehow I got sidetracked and didn\’t get her any last week when I should have (when I seen it even though she didn\’t need it).

I usually grab it on the way to work since provigo/loblaws/maxi are the only chains that I am aware of that carry PC (presidents choice products)  however the one I go to is small and doesn\’t have that much selection.  So I wasn\’t too shocked when I discovered 2 days in a row that they were sold out.  No biggie, there\’s another provigo not too far from work in the opposite direction and a loblaws not too far from that provigo either.  Maxi is was out of the question because there isn\’t any in my immediate/relative area.  I think that there must be a back order or something with the manufacture because this is ridiculous!

So before I left work I conferred with Donna about what the best direction was to go since she knows this end of city far better then I do.  However I am beyond geographically challenged and get lost far to easily sometimes!  Anyone who knows me could likely attest to this ha ha.  Anyway long story short I went the WRONG way (surprise, surprise) and ended up in Cote St. Luc when I was *supposed* to be in NDG still.  Thankfully it was a nice day out and walking for oh almost an hour and half didn\’t bug me.  Besides I needed the exercise.

So I hopped on the 104 to Sherbrooke & Cavendish to check out the provigo I should have been at around 6 (this was pushing close to 8pm at this point).  Of course they\’re sold out too, good lord!  So I thought well Loblaws is about 10-15 min away on foot so why not, and of course they too are sold out of this damn litter!  This is what I get for trying to be more environmentally friendly :p  Granted I too prefer this brand of cat litter because its all natural, smells really nice, no dust, bio-degradable and flushable!  I know the flushable aspect bothers some people but really how different is it from what *WE* as humans flush down the toilet?  Nothing…  Not a damn thing.

So until I can score some of this litter from somewhere, and I swear as soon as Provigo gets it back in stock i\’m buying it ALL!  I have the clay stuff too in case of emergency such as this, but she hates it to the point that she chucks it out of her box!  So after working 8 hours, walking for about 3 to try and find this cat litter which I never did locate I\’m not impressed!  I did however score a great deal on bacon, strawberries, my favorite cereal, yogurt, bagels, steak  and these butter pecan cookies that I ADORE and haven\’t seen in forever!  So all was not totally lost at least for me, Heddy on the other hand… She\’ll just have to deal!
