You didn\’t thank me…

for punching you in the face.

I read this article via a friend on FB, who copied it from views from the couch and I\’m posting it here.  I feel that this is something that needs to be read.  As someone who works in a daycare I see several incidents of children from both genders acting aggressively.  Regardless of that, there is a valid point in this post.

“On a somewhat serious note today because of a conversation the other day:
I am sure every girl can recall, at least once as a child, coming home and telling their parents, uncle, aunt or grandparent about a boy who had pulled her hair, hit her, teased her, pushed her or committed some other playground crime. I will bet money that most of those, if not all, will tell you that they were told “Oh, that just means he likes you”. I never really thought much about it before having a daughter of my own. I find it appalling that this line of bullshit is still being fed to young children. Look, if you want to tell your child that being verbally and/or physically abused is an acceptable sign of affection, I urge you to rethink your parenting strategy. If you try and feed MY daughter that crap, you better bring protective gear because I am going to shower you with the brand of “affection” you are endorsing.

When the fuck was it decided that we should start teaching our daughters to accept being belittled, disrespected and abused as endearing treatment? And we have the audacity to wonder why women stay in abusive relationships? How did society become so oblivious to the fact that we were conditioning our daughters to endure abusive treatment, much less view it as romantic overtures? Is this where the phrase “hitting on girls” comes from? Well, here is a tip: Save the “it’s so cute when he gets hateful/physical with her because it means he loves her” asshattery for your own kids, not mine. While you’re at it, keep them away from my kids until you decide to teach them respect and boundaries.

My daughter is 10 years old and has come home on more than one occasion recounting an incident at school in which she was teased or harassed by a male classmate. There has been several times when someone that she was retelling the story to responded with the old, “that just means he likes you” line. Wrong. I want my daughter to know that being disrespected is NEVER acceptable. I want my daughter to know that if someone likes her and respects her, much less LOVES her, they don’t hurt her and they don’t put her down. I want my daughter to know that the boy called her ugly or pushed her or pulled her hair didn’t do it because he admires her, it is because he is a little asshole and assholes are an occurrence of society that will have to be dealt with for the rest of her life. I want my daughter to know how to deal with assholes she will encounter throughout her life.

For now, I want my daughter to know that if someone is verbally harassing her, she should tell the teacher and if the teacher does nothing, she should tell me. If someone physically touches her, tell the teacher then, if it continues, to yell, “STOP TOUCHING/PUNCHING/PUSHING ME” in the middle of class or the hallway, then tell me. Last year, one little boy stole her silly bandz from her. He just grabbed her and yanked a handful of them off of her wrist. When I went to the school to address the incident, the teacher smiled and explained it away to her, in front of me, “he probably has a crush on you”. Okay, the boy walked up to my daughter, grabbed and held her by the arm and forcibly removed her bracelets from her as she struggled and you want to convince her that she should be flattered? Fuck off. I am going to punch you in the face but I hope you realize it is just my way of thanking you for the great advice you gave my daughter. If these same advice givers’ sons came home crying because another male classmate was pushing them, pulling their hair, hitting them or calling them names, I would bet dollars to donuts they would tell him to defend themselves and kick the kid’s ass, if necessary. They sure as shit wouldn’t say, “he probably just wants a play date”.

I will teach my daughter to accept nothing less than respect. Anyone who hurts her physically or emotionally doesn’t deserve her respect, friendship or love. I will teach my boys the same thing as well as the fact that hitting on girls doesn’t involve hitting girls. I can’t teach my daughter to respect herself if I am teaching her that no one else has to respect her. I can’t raise sons that respect women, if I teach them that bullying is a valid expression of affection.

The next time that someone offers up that little “secret” to my daughter, I am going to slap the person across the face and yell, “I LOVE YOU”.”

Random WTF\’s

OK first of all it\’s 9:15 in the morning. Had a long week at work and was actually looking forward to sleeping in. Except of course given the nonsense of my daily schedule as is, that\’s usually an impossible dream. Clearly my neighbors are awake too, because I can hear them a little too clearly. I\’m happy that they have a err rather active sex life in spite of their having two children and another one on the way. Good for them!
You know what\’s NOT good for me?

Having my pictures and what not on the walls end up crooked because to put it bluntly, he\’s fucking her so hard that MY walls are shaking!
I have some of their mail here, I\’m tempted to walk upstairs in my bathrobe and knock on the door.  In any case, I don\’t feel bad when I start singing random songs (off key no less) at the fullest volume I can muster.  😉

In other news, this I find much, much more appalling!  I mean seriously, WTF is wrong with society these days?  We have people protesting the Habs because they have an English speaking coach, yet american players (which isn\’t an issue of course).

Children being denied organ transplants from NON organ donor lists (they have family members who are willing to do so) because she\’s mentally challenged.  OK seriously?  This disgusts me on So. Many. Levels.  Who are you to deny a child the quality of life that all children deserve because you refuse to do the transplant?  Some Dr\’s are fucking arrogant!

Not to mention the conservative government of Canada denying gay marriage rights all of a sudden…  This article is quite an interesting read to say the least.  Dan Savage\’s quote \”Now if you\’ll excuse me I need to go wake up my husband and tell him we got divorced last night.\” is amusing, yet sad at the same time.  I as a person born and raised in Canada was so PROUD that we were forward thinking enough to have this finally be legal.  It was pretty freaking awesome when the province I call home hosted the first gay marriage ceremony.   Now?

Now I am ashamed.  Shame on you Canada for going back on your word and for fucking with the rights of others that you have NO business doing in the first place!  Do you really think that this is going to help you during election time?  Guess again mother fuckers!

I have no burning desire to have kids, I do however work with them everyday and I love them as if they were my own.  So when I happened to stumble upon this article I was disgusted by society as a whole.  Botox?  \’virgin waxing\’? Really?  Are we so caught up on what\’s alleged to be beautiful by societal norms that we don\’t care just how bad we\’re fucking with the minds of CHILDREN?!?  Granted as a 33 year old, I\’m pretty sure that my mom taking me to have my legs waxed might have come in handy because after all, hair stops growing back after a while…

I also remember as a child getting all freaked out over my own body hair (before I had that kind body hair) I mean my arms and legs…  I however said nothing and well I doubt my mom would have taken me to get waxed back then anyway.  Not that I had any clue what that actually was back then.  Now the only thing getting waxed these days is my eyebrows and even that I slack off on horribly more often then not!

On a final note, it\’s nice to know that I\’m not the only one who is plagued by idiots in their life…

PS: It\’s now 9:51am and they\’re still having sex…

Life\’s little conversation gems…

OK so bear in mind I had a major fat kid vacation so my healthier habits basically went into the toilet.  As a result I\’m making a conscious effort to do a little better.  One of those things would be to consume more water, I\’m tired of feeling lethargic and dehydrated.  So this is a good thing, having to pee all the time, not so much.  As a result of this, this conversation happened today at work.

Me: Good lord, I need to pee again!

Co-worker: Happens to people who are pregnant.

Me: Nope, that\’s *not* possible.

C0-worker: Sure it is, my friend got pregnant and she was on the pill.

Me: (laughing) No (insert co-workers name here), I can\’t get pregnant because I don\’t have anyone to have sex with.

C0-worker: *Awkward silence*  Soooooo lunch?

We both had a good laugh over the whole thing.  Maybe you just had to be there?

Saturday Shenanigans

I have the most ridiculously random, yet totally awesome life EVER!

No really.

I do.

I hosted a day long fundraiser at my place yesterday to help out a friend.  Started at 9am and ran until some obscure hour in the wee hours of the morning.  It was by and large one of the Best. Saturday\’s. Ever.  It started out innocently enough, get up, get stuff done.  Or so that was the plan at the very least.

So for those of you who missed it, here\’s the highlights in no particular order with no back story included:

  • My superintendent told me that I could get around the no lease clause of no dogs allowed YAY!  Except right now I can\’t but someday.  Having your super think that you\’re hot has it\’s privileges.
  • I got blatantly hit on by some 400lb dude who said it was totally OK if I was his stalker.
  • Which led to me throwing up in my mouth a little and saying (after many drinks later) \’Can you imagine me trying to have sex with that guy?  I don\’t think I could bear the weight of him being on top, I\’m not flexible enough nor are my legs long enough to be on top and my knees are bad\’ which if you were there, you\’d get it & laugh because everyone else did.  Fuck you if you think I\’m being mean (because I admit that I totally was insensitive) because it was pretty damn funny if you were there.
  • Got to meet some of my awesome neighbors which makes me feel damn good about this apartment. With the exception of having to meet one due to Jackson finding her poor cat on the road, who we invited over for drinks.
  • Poor person\’s cat who died?  HOT!  OMFG This is one of the hottest woman I have ever seen!  Which also prompted me to say, after total inebriation: \’ I\’m mostly straight but I would totally tap that!\’ I also totally would because she\’s freaking hot!
  • Headlocks were had.
  • Boobs were groped.
  • Pants were lost.
  • Such comments like the back of your head NEEDS to be smooched in my boobs (yes that was me) were said.
  • Filters and indoor voices became a thing of the past.
  • Wine, rum & beer was bought, consumed and spilled.
  • Smoking…  Lot\’s & lot\’s of smoking.
  • Lot\’s of lesbians.
  • Lewd and totally inappropriate comments were said. (Which if you know me is the norm, but when I\’m that shitfaced it\’s even worse)
  • Tattoos were flashed.
  • Cast members from Webdreams were met.
  • The word naughty became one of the most used words of the evening.
  • Smoking hot photo-shoots were planned.
  • My friends wife ended up in my bed.
And much, MUCH more.  Which I can not disclose.  Because what happens on Shitfaced Saturday\’s at Steph\’s Stays at SSS.
Partying with me & select friends really IS that awesome.
After all  membership friendship has it\’s privileges. 😉
