Tales of dentistry hell!

So yesterday I headed off to the dentist and I was in PAIN ALL night!  I thought well mild discomfort was to be expected and I popped some Advil and hoped that it would go away by the morning.  Nope, not a chance!  It wasn\’t AS bad but  I thought to myself, OK seriously?  What was supposed to be a simple thing, is turning out to be a VERY expensive trip to the dentist!  I was brushing my teeth this morning and noticed part of my temporary filling had ended up in the sink but didn\’t think too much of it because well I just flossed that area.  Then as I was leaving for work it went from a dull pulsing throb to a incessant ache.  Again with the Advil, hoping that it would clear up.  In fact it actually got worse…

I was trying to innocently chew a piece of gum, and that hurt!  I couldn\’t put ANY pressure on that part of my mouth without it sending a jolt of pain through my jaw, let alone bite down on it which I tried to do several times to test if I actually could!  So I go about my day and the first thing I do is make my quiche because they take an hour to cook and if in the event I need the oven for lunch then its free to use.   Quiche + flour= dust particulates that make me sneeze.  Of course I had one of those epic open mouth sneezes that made me smash down on my top and bottom jaw which sent the most HARDCORE jolt of pain through my system!  I honestly felt like someone had taken a stun gun to my gum\’s and a baseball bat to the side of my head.  The pain was so debilitating that I literally fell to my knee\’s clutching the right side of my face in tears.  I have NEVER experienced pain so intense in my entire life then I did at that moment.

The culprit: pus buildup.  So my roots are in fact infected, and when Dr. Regina started cleaning out my tooth it started to drain and since she covered it up (knowing that I had infected roots WTF) it got trapped which created a pressure build up because quite simply it had no where else to go.  So I called my dentist because I was BEYOND pissed off at this point!  Got an emergency appointment for 4:45pm to have it looked at to see what the problem was.  So I had to have my temporary filling removed ( you know the one I got less then 24 hours ago at this point) and I am now on antibiotics for my mouth infection (penicillan, awesome!  Hello possible yeast infection and birthcontrol wipe out!)  and because of this my tooth has to remain open so that it can drain properly.  So I have to keep little cotton balls shoved up there so that it doesn\’t get further infected and brush my teeth every time I eat something/change the cotton ball and I will most likely need a damn root canal!  I am SO annoyed (with myself) for not having this taken care of sooner.  So there goes ALL my vacation plans since I doubt I will be able to afford to go anywhere let alone have any spending money for a tattoo or going out with my friends.  I am NOT happy with the end result of today at all!  Here\’s to hoping that I get accepted into the teaching hospital because I really need a break and so does my improvised bank account!  Thankfully this trip to the dentist was a freebie!  As for the pain…  I think its gone… Although I have totally od\’ed on Advil today so that helps lol
