um stuff?

Its 10:00am, I just had cheesecake for breakfast.  Don\’t judge me!

I thought I deserved a little self indulgence.  I\’m sick, as in dear God someone please kill me now sick.  No one\’s taking up my offers to run me over though damn you!  I blame him, him as in I was going to see you Wed but your still sick and now i\’m sick, him.  Granted I work at a daycare where runny noses are always in abundance but I\’m the Chef, not an educator so I rarely interact with the little ones very often.  There\’s a reason for that.  I had managed to stave off anything that was in fact going around the daycare, but then he was sick and we were making out in the museum on Saturday. Sigh

God damn him and all his yummy-ness!

In other news, I had a shift last night at COC that no one mentioned to me.  Fabulous!  Had it not been payday on Thursday (hooray!) and had I not contemplated taking Maximus primes Sunday shift I would have had no freaking clue.  That is until D-rock would have called me & been \”hey Steph, where the fuck are you?\” I thought about stabbing myself so I could go home early but my morals got the best of me and thought it would be best to stick it out with the new guy.  That\’s OK because new guy got one hell of a dose of Steph that he\’s not likely to forget anytime soon *smirk* heh…  I\’d write about it but i\’m currently stoned on cold medication and i\’m lazy.  Besides it was more like one of those you had to be there moments.

Anyhow moving along…

A while ago I briefly mentioned biting the bullet and contacting Jason\’s family(among other things).  Which I was hesitant to do because I don\’t know them, therefore they sure as hell don\’t know how I am either.  Grief is a funny thing & we all deal with it differently & for me its also a private matter.  OK well not too private since I\’ve been blogging about it from the get go but still.  I just know how much it hurt me personally and I couldn\’t begin to fathom how his mother would feel.  So one night at work a co-worker and myself were talking about Jason and he brother who sadly met the same demise in a similar fashion.  She made me feel better by saying that her mom loved hearing from anyone who knew her bother.  Its almost April and I was starting to wonder if my letter (yes I wrote typed out a letter and mailed it the old fashioned way) reached its destination or not.  Although I remember Jason telling me that it was a small town and well the mail service sucks, not to mention its in another country.

I came home in between jobs yesterday to feed the kids and decided to check my e-mail.  There was two in there from the same person, one containing pictures & another one where the subject line: Thank you for the beautiful letter.  I didn\’t recognize the name & at first I thought it was spam but I opened it and sure enough, it was from Jason\’s mom.  I was floored, but happy that it had arrived safely!  I was also pretty happy that she wholly supports what I aim to do which is amazing 🙂  I quote:\”  And I think, too, that if his death brings people together who can change even one other life in this world, there is new beauty and hope.\” I totally agree!  So that simple gesture made me feel 100 times better about the situation as a whole.  Not just his foundation, but the grief I\’ve been experiencing in general.  What she wrote just made everything seem OK for the first time since it happened.

Which is amazing and perhaps what I needed all along, so thank you for that.

Progress…

I do love me some progress!  You know what I don\’t particularly care for?  The big ass pile of paperwork that\’s currently on the other side of my bed.  I could think of much better things to curl up into bed with…  Anyway I registered a domain today, for Jason\’s foundation & I submitted the paperwork for a name search/reservation.  Of course you can do this online (for free), however it doesn\’t work (of course) however at least I\’ll have the paperwork needed to submit along with my pile of paperwork all for $37.00.  So I\’m pretty much going cross eyed reading reams of manuals, forms and applications.  I was going the registered charity route, but after doing more research changed my mind.  I know the government must have loved that!  So now I\’m back at square one, but that\’s OK.   Mainly because going not for profit offers my foundation more freedom in terms of who I can give my money to.  Simply put: registered charities can only donate to other registered charities wheres NFP can donate to whomever they want to as long as they\’re not for profit or a registered charity.

This is turning into a slightly costly venture though I must say.  I get the name check because then you get a patent and registration from the government.  That\’s important, people can look that stuff up and in order to hold events and what have you its crucial to this foundations well being.  So to apply for that its $145.00 which I don\’t currently have (but I will) then I have to go visit a notary and God knows how much that\’s going to cost me.  I get that too though because if they made it easy, then everyone and their mother would be registering not for profit/charitable status for the tax benefits.  It is however a bit of a hassle.  The thing that\’s the most irritating?  Having to download/print a \”translated version\” of the paperwork!  Because it has to be submitted in French (FFS!) such a hassle!  They won\’t accept it if you submit it on those forms *sigh* sooooo got that out of the way.  Called my other directors (you need at least 3 people to do this) and now I\’m playing the waiting game.

Have to get the name OK first, which is on the way.  Then I have to get the paperwork completed and signed by Krystal & Donna.  So I\’m heading off to NDG on Wed to go see them and hang out for a bit.  So if anything I feel like something is happening, even if its going to take a while.  I like progress, its important.  At least I think so.  So in the meantime I\’m going to start working on the website because that will likely take me longer then anything else.  I can\’t make it public until I get that paperwork, which sucks because I want to tell people but I haven\’t told anyone as of yet.  Its not that I don\’t trust anyone, its more so if in the event that I don\’t get the name that I want then I don\’t have to run around and explain everything to everyone about the change and what not as well.  Doesn\’t matter because the domain is bought and paid for so no going back now lol.

I\’m going to bed, its not even 3am.  My sleep schedule is kinda futzed up but I know I\’m not the only one 😉  Oh what I would give for a normal schedule, but then again I tend to loose track of time with some people.  But its awesome when I do!  However the whole lack of sleep thing sucks, especially when its not happening to you.  I can at least go to sleep and I know that.  I have lots to do though, laundry, buy some food for a change!  Stuff like that.

The train wreck saga continues…

OK so no I have no real reason to complain (kinda), I could be in Haiti right now.  Not to be totally ungrateful because you know, for the most part I have it pretty damn good.  At least in some regards…  There is one \”situation\” (for lack of a better term) that I have 0 intentions of complaining about because well its awesome extraordinary ;).  However on the not so awesome side of things…  Work (do I talk about anything else?) yeah got my schedule yesterday and I have a whole two shifts.  TWO!  WTF?  Max is on vacation and aside from Darren *I* have the most seniority hello!  So I have five freaking days off of work, not so awesome when your not expecting them, and when you had four days off the previous week as well.  SCREW YOU READING WEEK!  Hopefully I get a call back from the daycare I applied to on Tuesday.  Yeah me, working a daycare.  That\’s beyond hilarious!  I will however be the executive Chef, in charge of snacks and meals for 80 birth control failures adorable little children.  Don\’t get me wrong, I don\’t hate kids.  I love anyone Else\’s children.  Its also quite similar to the work I did at Concordia so its not like its foreign to me.  Oh and to top it off, I forgot to top up my damn phone and lost the killer plan I had grandfathered in.  Shit!  So yeah no text messages from me today, must call virgin and make sure I get my text pack back. Done!

We shall see what happens though in the meantime.  In any case I can\’t afford this, so I\’m thinking prostitution, perhaps looking for a new job.  Mostly I want to go back to school, badly.  Yeah I know, WTF is wrong with me?  Ask my mom how many schools I got kicked out of (Hi Mom, I love you!) *yes, my mommy reads my blog*. However being an adult changes everything.  Age to me isn\’t relevant.  Age really is just the numerical definition of how many years you\’ve been on this earth, it does not denote how many years you\’ve lived.  Physically I\’m 31, can pass for 24 on a good day but I\’m old on the inside.

Slightly somber, kinda sexist & then some…

So I bit the bullet and contacted Jason\’s family with my intentions.   Its something I\’ve been meaning to do for a while but I\’ve been hesitant to do so because really who am I to decide when its OK to hone in on someone\’s grief?  I can only hope that the end result is positive as opposed to negative…  I\’m in the process of filling out the monsoon of paperwork that the government requires me to fill out to obtain actual charity status.  Originally I was going to go the not for profit route because it gave me more flexibility in terms of who I could/couldn\’t donate to.  However being recognized as an actual registered charity I will hopefully be taken more seriously and I can also issue tax receipts which generally encourages more people to give.  This is a big deal to me and I will do everything in my power to make it happen.  To get around the French bullshit that the QC government slaps on you for being well anything in QC, I\’m registering it in Ontario.

QC just has SO much red tape, everything has to be filled out in French, needs a French name blah blah blah so fuck em.  That\’s one thing Jason and I had in common, him being in New Mexico had to deal with the whole Spanish thing.  Myself living in Quebec and dealing with the French, well needless to say we had similar gripes.  OK yes QC\’s official language IS French but I am from Ontario so it just feels like the right thing to do.  Not only that, Jason and I are both Anglophones, so QC you can kiss my pasty white derriere and yes in case you were wondering its totally legal as long as its registered in Canada.  I\’m pretty excited about making this happen!  I\’m not saying anything more then that for now, but big plans for the future are most certainly ahead 🙂

Which once again leads me to work…  Don\’t I always talk about work 97% of the time?  Well today is no different, wish it was but alas its not meant to be.  OK this is going to sound racist but it is what it is.  As much as I hate stereotypes, one I can\’t help but think that some cultures do it to themselves.  Like a good friend of mine is fond of saying:\”They had to start somewhere right?\” I totally agree!  I personally don\’t care who you are, where your from, what your skin color is blah blah blah.  That means nothing to me, however it really gets my panties in a knot when people use the whole \”in my country\” shit.  Fuck you, THIS IS CANADA!  Deal with it, or quite simply go back to wherever your country is where that BS is acceptable, it however doesn\’t fly here.

Prime example, when I worked at the university we had tons of international students because of certain laws set forth if you were in fact an international student; you had to work at/for the university.  So this one snotty brat from ******** was asked to do some dishes, he pointedly said to his superior and I quote:\”I will do no such thing, in my country that\’s woman\’s work\” Excuse me?  So yeah needless to say he was terminated.  So today we have a new guy come in from the same country.  He asked me if the chicken needed to be sliced and portioned, I was on my way out and its not my job to train this little bastards so I said sure go ahead.  Then he says to me:\” Get me a container to put this in\”  Excuse me?  Or more like excuse you!  Where are your fucking manners you ignorant prick?  First of all, I\’m higher up on the totem pole then you WILL EVER be, secondly, you DON\’T EVER talk to me like that.  So I made a point of saying:\”They\’re over there, get one YOURSELF\” he did so in a huff and proceeded to glare at me the entire time I was there.  Let me tell you something kid, I wear the pants in that kitchen.

Not only that, D\’s showing him around and says \’M will be in soon so just hang out and see what goes on as I was 10 mins away from leaving.  So he says oh there\’s no need I\’ve been cooking for 4 years now so it\’ll be easy for me.  I just need to know what\’s what and I\’ll be fine.  Four years eh?  Well I got news for you, I\’ve been doing it for SIXTEEN years.  So obnoxious!  So I of course while waiting to meet someone at the Cafe next door went out of my way to be as offensive and obnoxious as possible.  Needless to say Friday is going to be a REAL treat since I\’M the one who\’s working both Friday & Saturday night, therefore I\’M IN CHARGE can\’t wait!
