The saga continues…
It’s no secret that I am not pleased with my living situation as pretty much everyone knows. I have since filed a complaint with the regie de lodgement about the living conditions around here. Seeking punitive damages to the tune of $8000.00 dollars. I was told by my agent to contact the city and file a formal complaint. After contacting the city about filing said complaint and having a building inspector come in and take a look at the situation in my home, I was told to write up a formal letter giving my landlord ten (10) days notice to correct said problems. Which would have given her until Friday March 4th 2011 to do what I had requested. The list is long, I will not add it here for legal reasons. It was not stipulated to me by the ville de Montreal that I had to stipulate 10 business days or just 10 days. So I sent in the letter that night and sent it via registered mail. She received it on Feb 24th, two days after it was sent. I have the verification stating as much. So that gives her 8 days, or technically 9 since I did not include the day the letter was sent to be fair. Not that I feel that they deserve any form of fairness, however I try to be a fair person.
It is now March 8th, four days after the imposed deadline. Around 7:30 this evening, there was someone banging at my door. Seeing as how I am not expecting any company, I for obvious reasons choose not to answer my door. By law she has to give me 24 hours notice to show up here or I can refuse to let her into my home. So I did just that. As in refused to let her in. This is really just a case of her trying to save her ass from whomever owns the actual property and likely trying to save her job. Had it been done correctly in the first place, none of this would be an issue. How dare you think for a second that it’s OK for you to just show up without any formal notice? What if I had plans? What if I was having sex and you waltzed in? I mean seriously? How dare you!
I have been MORE then patient and rather considerate with this whole situation. I have done nothing but take exceptional care of my home. I’ve taken all the appropriate steps to right several wrongs and yet it takes a damn eternity to get things done around here. I have had enough of her discombobulated nonsense and therefore I have decided to put my foot down.
It’s too little, too damn late and this time I am fighting back. It’s as simple as that. I will be going to my home office for the city as soon as I’m done work tomorrow and filling a formal complaint with them to get a building inspector in here to add one more nail to the coffin that they have built for themselves.
It’s really not about the money, it’s the principal of the whole thing. Had she actually taken the time to acknowledge me and my requests in the designated time period then this would have not been an issue. However she did not, therefore it’s going to be their loss, not mine.
