BEHOLD!
There is something SO satisfying about telling someone off who’s done you So. Much. Wrong. 🙂
Allow me to make something clear to you.  This is MY home. I pay rent for the “privilege” of living here.  The Régie du logement has it clearly stated on their website that NO ONE is allowed access to anyone’s dwelling without twenty four hours of notice either written or verbal unless there is an extreme emergency.  Such as a flood, a fire, an electrical problem and so forth.  NONE of which occurred the day in question.
You can not under ANY circumstances e-mail me and show up at my door a few hours later, this is NOT how it works.
I am well aware that experts do not work on weekends.  However is this “expert” of yours registered with the government as outlined in the Ville de Montreal’s website? More specifically outlined in the pamphlet that I sent you the link to. Because I will ask to see such verification before I allow entrance of whoever your expert is into my home.
Is this expert of yours aware that it takes upwards of two hours to complete the job and that it is recommended that I not be in residence for at least 45 minutes after the fact?
So please enlighten me as to how that would work showing up at my door at almost 8pm?
Also please note that the next time you try to unlawfully enter my apartment without my permission I will be calling the police. Â I am quite certain that you would not like to be arrested for unlawful entering and trespassing. Â This is exactly what will happen should you make that attempt again without my permission.
I did not give you ANY permission verbal or written to enter my apartment.  I don’t know who you think you are showing up at my door when it’s convient for you without giving me reasonable notice first.  Certain steps need to be taken in terms of preparation to have the job done.  Ergo notice is necessary. Otherwise this will just prolong the job at hand, which takes a lot longer then 5-10 minutes.
I was home when you arrived, granted I had not checked my e-mail at that point and was indisposed and un-able to answer my door. That was when I heard someone trying to enter into my dwelling. After having experienced a recent attempted break-in, I am on high alert when someone shows up at my door un-announced.  By the time I was able to get to the door, no one was there.  However judging by your e-mail saying that it was you at my door, I can assume that it was you.
What if you were able to gain un-permissible access when it was a NON emergency and I was with someone? I have a right to my privacy. I have been nothing but patient, considerate and understanding about pretty much everything. Violating my rights is where I draw the line. It wasn’t urgent until I filed a complaint with the Régie du logement who then suggested due to the nature of one my (numerous) complaints I contact the Ville de Montreal for intervention. Clearly this is a rather pathetic attempt at trying to save you and perhaps your job. Lest the city step in and discover a whole plethora of things wrong with my dwelling or the building. Had you actually taken the time to respond to my registered letter within the proposed time line and followed the protocol as set forth by the Régie du logement then this wouldn’t have been an issue.  However you didn’t, therefore it is.
I have already spoken to a representative at the Ville de Montreal office and I will be scheduling an appointment with a building inspector regardless. Whereupon I will be taking their findings with me to my yet to be scheduled hearing with the Régie du logement.
I will not be free most of this week as I have meetings and so forth and will not be able to free up anytime for this matter.  It’s not urgent, although still problematic in nature. I have however been living with this situation for months now.  As much as it’s physically, mentally and emotionally troubling to me I will have no choice but to live with it a little longer. You had more then sufficient and ample time to correct this. Time which was not utilized by yourself. That’s also not my fault and I will exercise any form of recourse bestowed upon me by the Ville de Montreal and the Régie du logement from here on out.
I feel SO much better now!
