Where I\’ve been & where i\’m going…

It\’s been a really long time since I blogged.

Mostly because I associated my blog (and anything computer related for that matter) with smoking.  I can proudly say that I have NOT had a cigarette since about 10:30 pm on Sunday July 15th 2012.  The day before my grandfather\’s birthday, a man who coincidentally enough died of lung cancer.  I had to make some major lifestyle changes due to my hours being cut back at work, which resulted in an obvious loss of income and that was one of them.

Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I have ever done for myself but I couldn\’t be happier that I did!  They say that everything happens for a reason and something good came out of having my hours scaled back.  That was probably the only thing but it\’s better than nothing.  Which is funny because everyone kept telling me \”think of the money you\’ll save\” when in reality my hours had been literally cut in half and I had to choose between smoking or eating and paying my rent.

I\’ve also partaken a greater interest in photography.  It affords me a different artistic outlet and I have found all kinds of helpful and lovely people on google +   it\’s where all the cool kids hang out.  I haven\’t really utilized it in any other way except for some light social interaction, but mostly photography.  I also decided to embark on the Google+ 365 self portrait project.   it\’s an interesting challenge and you can follow my own personal journey (that started yesterday) here

I started making jewelry and stuff and opened a store on Etsy, which you can find here  eventually I need to investigate sharing my Etsy store with Kristina who makes these AWESOME sock monsters and monkeys.  You should check her out on facebook  and tell her Steph sent you. 🙂

I\’m starting to get tired and going to wrap this up, but this is what\’s noteworthy in 2012 for me at least:

  • Photography.  Lot\’s and lot\’s of it!  Follow me on google plus if you like to see some of what I do.
  • Travel. I haven\’t gone anywhere exciting, just home.  More than I usually do.
  • Got myself a boyfriend.  He lives with me.  It\’s kind of nice actually and a little scary all at the same time.
  • Still chugging away at my sleeve, so not much new on the tattoo front.
  • The new manfriend is vegan so I\’ve been expanding my culinary horizons and eating better in the process.  I was mostly vegetarian/Pescetarian before he came along and i\’m OK with that.  I\’m not going to become vegan for him.  Besides I like Bacon and cheese too much, even if I only eat bacon once or twice a year.
  • More charity/volunteer work.  Not just for my own foundation but others.  It\’s nice actually!  Especially when you get to partake in projects such as the plus one collection .  Not only do you get your work published, you get it published alongside the people you admire the most and it\’s for charity too, which is pretty bad ass.
  • I\’ve been working a lot more on being true to myself.  It\’s been tough in some regards because even though I don\’t entirely care what most people think about me overall, sometimes it\’s good to have people in your corner just the same.
  • I started working out more.  It\’s proven to be not as impossible as I thought to get up before the sun rises and work up a sweat.

I\’m busy and content.  Which is all that really matters I think 🙂

Snippets and other misc. shit

I\’m sick. Sick as in I want to crawl into bed and stay there because my head is so fucking congested right now and the back of my throat is so seriously itchy I am thinking about sticking a fork down my throat so I can scratch it.  Thankfully I could in fact do that, I have no gag reflex. At least not in the traditional sense.

That however is a story best saved for another day.

How did I get sick? My little \’boyfriend\’ (AKA favorite baby at work, not my actual boyfriend) KG sneezed. In. My. Mouth.  Last week he was all sick and cranky and he just loves me so of course I pick him up and try to comfort him and that was the thanks I got in return.  I\’ve been fighting it all week, but of course today it hits me like a fucking Mac truck and I feel like ass.

Magical!

So anyway, today being good Friday and all, work was a lot more lax.  So much in fact that I didn\’t have much to do and left before 2pm. That almost never happens as while handy, that\’s going to hurt come payday…  Anyway instead of doing something useful like cleaning my office or working on my new cake website because that just takes far too much effort… So I come on here to bitch and whine about being sick and other random nonsense that spews forth in my mind.

So today, I stumbled upon the following (in no particular order):

  • \"\"

Yeah I know it\’s blasphemous and I don\’t give a shit…  I\’m going to hell in every religion anyway and that happened loooooooooooooong before this post happened.

I\’m offensive.

Apparently.

Clearly, some people in this world simply can not handle my frank level of honesty.  In today\’s society, we\’re far too sanitized!  Everyone is too fucking scared to truly speak their mind for fear of offending someone or something.

Except for me that is.

Here\’s the bottom line: chances are I\’m saying exactly what you yourself are thinking, but lack the balls to say.  I don\’t go out of my way to be offensive (believe it or not, stop snickering!) and I also posses the ability to keep my mouth shut when the situation calls for it & occasionally posses the ability to be tactful.  However I refuse to sit there and not speak up because I\’m afraid that you\’ll be offended.  If you\’re entitled to an opinion, why aren\’t I?  Why is it that I am expected to be respectful of your opinions, thoughts and beliefs but you can\’t find it within yourself to be respectful of mine.

The bottom line?

I speak my mind because it hurts to bite my tongue.

Religion and politics are always two hot button topics.
Especially the catholic religion…

Now don\’t get me wrong, I\’m NOT hating on anyone\’s belief\’s. Nor am I saying that this is a universal opinion of anyone who chooses to partake in organized religion either.  I\’m very curious and respectful of anyone\’s cultural/religious belief\’s and often make inquires to such.  Whatever brings you hope or comfort, get\’s you through the day is OK by me.  More often than not, I enjoy these conversations.  Some of the rituals surrounding various cultures and religions are not only thought provoking, but symbolic in a heart felt way.  I\’m very fortunate to be friends and work with people who are various cultures and religions and they are very patient when it comes to indulging my curiosity and I love them for it!

I\’m technically a Roman Catholic.  I\’ve since denounced my religion and prefer to refer to myself as a non denominational person if asked.  I\’m sure that my nannies are spinning in their graves (sorry nannies, I love you and no disrespect!).  I have my own set of belief\’s that I choose to keep to myself.  Because really, it\’s of no concern to anyone but myself.  That brings me forth to today.  I was in the middle of a discussion with someone in regards to lent   and how they felt that they needed to do something more challenging next year.  To which I commented: \’I gave up on that years ago, I can\’t be bothered with Catholicism anymore.\’ they sighed and replied \’that\’s often the case\’.

So I said, can you blame them? The Catholic religion is FULL of hypocrisy and I went on to say that the pope is a douche-bag and priests are running around raping alter boys yet the pope is more concerned about gay marriage and how it\’s \’not sanctioned\’ sodomy is wrong and no birth control or abortions for you!  It\’s appalling that when someone dies, a child is born with hideous deformities ( and the list goes on) that the die hard\’s always say: It\’s God\’s way. OK well what if my child was born gay, since God allegedly created us all than why in the fuck is it so wrong? By wrong I mean in the eyes of the fanatics.

I wholly support the gay community 100% by the way.  I always have and that\’s NOT going to change anytime soon.

All of which really pissed the person I was talking to off.  They fired back with:\”That\’s not a global opinion Steph\” and they\’re right. It\’s not.  It is however *my* opinion, to which I believe I am more than entitled to! To which I said, I know that.  I however choose not to embark on a path that clearly supports hypocritical nonsense.  To which they said they were offended by my use of the word nonsense.  I\’m not talking about your run of the mill nonsense, I\’m talking about HYPOCRITICAL nonsense, to which there is a difference. At least in my point of view. It\’s my blog, so I don\’t give a shit if you don\’t agree.

It also explains why this person is such an opinionated hypocrite themselves.

They themselves have a child, one who was conceived out of wedlock.  Which in the eyes of the catholic church, makes that child a bastard.  Also sex before marriage? That\’s a big no no too!  What if said child is gay? Oh shit, heads are going to roll.

ROLL PEOPLE!

So I offended this person once again.  Seems to happen a lot. Not that I give a shit, I\’m not going to change who I am just because someone has a problem with it. I don\’t give a shit if you like me or not to be honest.  However, respect is a two way street. As I said before, I respect everyone\’s right to believe in what they choose, to worship who/where they please.  Doesn\’t mean I have to like your point of view, nor are you required to like mine.

I however, at least respect you and what you believe in regardless and I don\’t take offense to your inability to give me the same courtesy.

I can not with a clear conscious partake in a religion that tells me I can\’t:

  • Have sex before I\’m married. The hell you say! You wouldn\’t buy a car without test driving it first would you?
  • Practice birth control.  Fuck you, I don\’t want kids.
  • Get tattooed.  They say the body is a temple and blah fucking blah. However, one should take into consideration how ornate and decorative temples are. Think about that for a second. I\’m doing the same, just to MY body.
  • Abortion is wrong. Yet another hot button topic, clearly. However I believe in the right to choose, dependent upon the circumstances. I don\’t feel that abortion should be used as a form of birth control. However if circumstances should dictate my not wanting to give birth IE: being raped, cases of incest, my health/welfare to be horribly compromised to name a few, than DAMN RIGHT I will have an abortion.
  • Because God said so.  A lovely catch all. Or it\’s written in the scripture. Ridiculous. Lot\’s of other religions utilize the same bible and scriptures.

Just a few reasons of my own choosing really.  Don\’t get me started on all the cases of rape taking place within Catholic institutions!  Blows. My. Mind.  When is the Vatican going to step up and acknowledge that celibacy is CLEARLY not the answer when some of the men who represent your churches are committing sins set forth in the bible and traumatizing children?

So when it comes to religious beliefs, I freely acknowledge all of them and choose to embrace the one\’s of my choosing. Because that\’s my right. Very much like my opinion. So don\’t you dare call me offensive simply because I don\’t agree with the religion you choose to partake in.

I await your hate mail.  I LOVE hate mail!  Allow me to make it easy for you:

talesfromthebathroomstall@gmail.com

Bring it on bitches! 😉

Bitch please!

It\’s rare that I post anything about work, however since I don\’t have horrific dates to post about; work it is! I really just need to bitch. It’s my blog, I’m allowed so there!
I actually enjoy my job, most of the time. Lately it’s been loaded with major ball suckage. The cook we had (who sucked ass on several levels anyway) is no longer with us so my work load has increased exponentially (since I\’m working both sides) while my patience has dwindled down to non-existent. I also don’t deal well with stupid.

We have a lot of replacement staff on hand right now and needless to say, it’s Fucking. Everything. Up.

Dislike.

So we have this one woman and I wasn’t impressed with her personality from the get go, but I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. She’s rude, loud, and obnoxious and has the poorest observation skills. She also mumbles & only speaks French. So that makes conversations with her interesting almost mission impossible…

I could go on about several of her fails but I’ll stick to just the one. So, today I’m at work in my kitchen de-boning salmon for lunch. So needless to say, my hands are covered in salmon slime.

Yeah I know that’s hot.

Anyway, she comes in and grabs a glass of water and I’m standing there doing my thing and she’s talking (mind you, she didn’t address me directly so I\’m not listening) and I’m doing my thing ergo not paying one iota of attention to her because she could be talking to herself for all I know. Then I hear this:

EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I whipped around, wondering who in the hell she thought she was talking to ME like that IN MY FUCKING KITCHEN no less. Then she asks me this:

Pouvez-vous  passer le savon s\’il vous plaît?

I just looked glared at her with the ultimate are you fucking kidding me look on my face.

Seriously? Are you blind? Or just really fucking stupid?

I’m clearly busy and my hands are covered in shit and you want me to pass you the fucking soap? Jesus Christ! One of these days, I’m just going to haul off and punch her in the damn face! I don’t know who she thinks she is, but honey I got news for your ass: I CAME FIRST AND IT’S MY FUCKING KITCHEN CUNT! SHOW SOME ME SOME FUCKING RESPECT BITCH.

Never mind the fact that she had no business being in there in the first place, let alone washing her own dishes*.  Especially  when you\’ve been working in one of the classrooms that have had an illness outbreak.  Sunlight ain\’t going to cut it it sister.

I really need to get out of this industry before I accidently on purpose stab someone.  Common sense isn\’t that common and you can\’t fix stupid…  Yet people like that seem to flock to me.  WTF is it about me?!?  Seriously!

End rant,carry on.

*In case you\’re wondering why doing your own dishes is a no-no at my job, it\’s simple. Germs. Also people don\’t know how to wash their dishes correctly and end up putting them back in the cupboard when they\’re still wet and then it get\’s all sludgy and moldy (true story, happened last summer. Awesome!) so while people may think they\’re helping me, the reality is you\’re not. So please, just don\’t.
